Coimbatore

Coimbatore popularly known as Kovai is the second-largest city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Situated on the banks of Noyyal, Coimbatore is popular for its engineering firms, textile mills, automobile parts, educational institutions, health care facilities, hospitality, pleasant weather and its Kongu Tamil. Being very close to Valparaj and Ooty, Coimbatore has become a good tourist attraction.

The district has the largest number of poultry and hosiery industries in India. Most of the fields are run by experts and entrepreneurs. Because of its textile industries and cotton production, it is often referred to as the “Manchester of South India”: the city is one of the largest exporters of wet grinders, auto components, jewellery, poultry and much more. In 2014, the city was ranked the best emerging city in India by the annual India Cities Survey and ranked fourth among Indian cities in investment by CII. It has also been selected as one of the Indian cities for development as a Smart City.
